CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The design team and other plans for South Carolina's new $25 million cruise passenger terminal in Charleston are about to be revealed.

Mayor Joe Riley and port officials meet with the media on Tuesday to discuss plans for the terminal first proposed last year and that is expected to be in operation by the end of next year.

The plan proposes a new one-berth passenger terminal in an existing building on the Cooper River, just upstream from the state's current, aging cinderblock terminal that is more than 40 years old.

A study by the local chamber of commerce released last week indicated construction of the new terminal will create nearly 340 jobs and have an economic impact of $43 million on the Charleston area economy.
