GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Greenville County sheriff's deputies think a man shot and killed himself following a stand-off with officers.
Deputy Matthew Armstrong says officers did not fire their guns during the stand-off in Berea on Sunday.
The man's name has not been released.
Armstrong says a woman had called to report an assault Sunday morning. Deputies searched several locations before the woman called late Sunday afternoon to say he had come back to her home and forced her outside.
Deputies were unable to convince the man to come outside and heard several shots after a police dog was sent inside. No officers were hurt and the dog made it out safely.
SWAT team officers fired tear gas and went inside a short time later and found the man dead.
