COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Columbia's Opportunity Resource is teaming up with Mayor Steve Benjamin to get your input on bringing even more big events to the Capital City.

The group is hosted a community forum Thursday to talk about planning events for July 4th and New Year's Eve.

COR is already considering the Gervais Street Bridge for the Fourth of July Celebration and the New Year's Eve event to be held on main Street.

"The event, once you get inside, will be spectacular with food and beverage vendors," Charles Appleby, COR Project Manager explains.  "We will have two stages with live music.  We will also have a grits cook-off and the World Beer Festival preview tasting."

COR hopes to begin partnering with community members and area business to help fund the two events which will also be paid for in part by the city's hospitality fund.
