RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) -- Deputies are investigating a shooting and carjacking in northeast Richland County Thursday.
Deputy Curtis Wilson says a male victim involved in a domestic situation in northeast Richland County was shot in the leg after driving to the 3700 block of Hoyt Street where he tried to enter a house. That's when the victim was shot and the suspects fled the scene.
Investigators say two males stole the victim's car and were eventually caught on Liberty Street when one of the suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled. He was eventually brought into custody.
The other driver continued to flee in the car and eventually jumped out. A K9 unit is on the scene and searching for the second suspect.
WACH Fox News talked to a woman who identified herself as the victim's aunt. Ethel Harley identified Willie Lowman as the victim who was shot.
She says Lowman was taken to Palmetto Richland and was alert and talking when she last saw him.
Officials continue their investigation and we'll bring you the latest updates when they become available. Keep checking back for more.
