LEXINGTON COUNTY (WACH) -- Officials have arrested a suspect who escaped while being arrested last week.

Richland County deputies say 20-year-old Stephon Pringle was arrested in Lexington County by the Richland County Fugitive Task Force and the State Law Enforcement Division Tuesday.

Pringle is accused of escaping police custody after a drug arrest involving him and three others last week near the Hunt Club Village Apartments off Decker Boulevard.

All four individuals were in the back seat of patrol cars when a fifth person opened the door of the vehicle letting Pringle go free.

Officials say Pringle was no longer handcuffed when taken back into custody.  Their investigation continues.

All of the suspects were charged with possession of marijuana in the original arrest.
