U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson says Gadhafi's assets abroad should be frozen.
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson says the United States should steer clear of military involvement in the revolution in Libya.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports the South Carolina lawmaker also opposes America enforcing a no-fly zone over the African nation.
Wilson told a Republican group on the resort island Monday that lawmakers should encourage Libyans to change the situation in their country and support civilians fighting to remove Moammar Gadhafifi.
Wilson is a retired Army National Guard colonel.
He says Gadhafi's assets abroad should be frozen. He says that would prevent the Libyan leader from hiring mercenaries and gangs from across North Africa to fight against protesters.
