WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Police in West Columbia are putting more information about local crime on their website.

Chief Dennis Tyndall says citizens and business owners can now use the department's website to search for crimes by type and period of time.

The online program also gives information on sex offenders in the West Columbia area.

Citizens who sign up for a free service can choose to have crime alerts sent to them or can also send online tips regarding crimes.
