COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's election campaign got $900,000 from two political action committees set up the Republican National Governor's Association.

The money came in a flurry as Haley fended off an unusually well-financed campaign by Democratic challenger Vincent Sheheen.

The State newspaper in Columbia reported Tuesday that Haley was helped by a $125,000 from Reynolds American to the political action committee RGA South Carolina IE. The committee's paperwork indicates it spent $205,000 on ads.

A second PAC spent almost $700,000 and had donations from General Electric, Exxon Mobil, Wal-Mart and drugmakers Eli Lilly and Pfizer.

The Democratic Governors Association pumped $500,000 into campaign ads for Sheheen.
