COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The University of South Carolina says it's getting advice from South Carolina's former top prosecutor.

The school said Monday that Henry McMaster has agreed to advise the university in development, fundraising and alumni relations.

University vice president Michelle Dodenhoff says McMaster's assistance will be invaluable in helping South Carolina reach development milestones.

McMaster is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina School of Law.

The Republican served as South Carolina's attorney general for eight years before leaving office in January after a failed gubernatorial bid.
