Gas thieves reprogram pumps to steal over 4,500 gallons

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Officials are on the lookout for a suspect or suspects who they stole thousands of gallons of gas from a Richland County convenience store.

Deputies say the thieves reprogrammed gas pumps two different times at the Pitt Stop gas station on Monticello Road.  The first happened back in December and the second on January 24.

Investigators say over 4,500 gallons of fuel, both premium and diesel, worth almost $14,000 was stolen between the two thefts.
