COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A 24-year-old Army soldier from South Carolina has died in a noncombat incident in Iraq.
The Department of Defense said Thursday that Spc. Lashawn Evans of Columbia died Feb. 15 in Baghdad province in Iraq.
He was assigned to the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, in Fort Riley, Kan.
No details of the incident were given. A call to Army officials at the 1st Infantry Division was not immediately returned.
