ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- The president of the National Association of Black Social Workers discusses the profession in a talk at South Carolina State University.
Joe Benton speaks Thursday on the Orangeburg campus about the development of the black social work movement and its links to African history, culture and thought.
Benton was elected the 11th president of the social workers group last year.
He's a graduate of Benedict College in Columbia and was director of the Youth Development Bureau of Health and Human Services during President Jimmy Carter's administration.
