COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina Lt. Gov. Ken Ard says he has not been contacted by the State Ethics Commission about a new issue with his campaign finance records.
Ard said in a statement Wednesday he will respond to the commission's inquiries.
Ethics Commission lawyer Cathy Hazelwood told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Ard likely will face a $100 fine for not filing a 2008 campaign finance report when he served on the Florence County Council.
The commission was already reviewing Ard's campaign finance reports that showed more than $20,000 in spending since he won the election.
Ethics records also show Ard faced more than $45,000 in penalties after failing to disclose his finances while on the county council. The commission reduced that to $1,100 in 2007.
