COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Gov. Nikki Haley has picked another nominee to run the state's Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services after her first pick stepped aside.

Haley announced Tuesday that Kela E. Thomas as her new nominee.  Her previous pick, Lynn Rogers, dropped out for personal reasons.

Rogers will keep her current job at the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

As for Thomas, she already comes from PPP as a top advisor for over 10 years.

“Kela Thomas understands the challenges that PPP faces, and she will work closely with Judge Byars at Corrections and Margaret Barber at the Department of Juvenile Justice to reduce the recidivism rate in South Carolina,” Haley said.

The Senate must confirm Haley's choice.
