COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina residents will be invited to paint American flags to send to troops overseas during Gov.-elect Nikki Haley's "family fun night" festivities.
The inaugural committee says Haley and her husband are coordinating the project with the South Carolina National Guard. Michael Haley is a National Guard officer.
Nikki Haley says she's been more involved in planning the family event the night before her inauguration than the formal festivities. She says the idea came from her weekly "family fun" nights with her two children during the campaign.
The event will be in a building on the State Fairgrounds, no matter what the weather does.
There will be live music and Southern food, which will include barbecue chicken and ribs, and fried chicken.
