COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The Pig is lending a helping hand to the hungry.

Piggly Wiggly delivered a massive donation to Harvest Hope Food Bank Wednesday with more than 2,500 pounds of food.

The supermarket chain ran a Facebook campaign asking customers to like itsFacebook page.  Those clicks resulted in food donations.

Items include green beans, oranges, cereal and rice; enough to feed hundreds in the Midlands.

"Through Harvest Hope, we can take a pound of food and make that a meal," explains Skot Garrick of Harvest Hope.  "So what you are seeing is over 2,500 meals that we will be able to provide for families in South Carolina who need a little help right now."

Garrick encourages anyone on Facebook with an upcoming birthday to link Harvest Hope's Facebook page to their own and get their friends to donate on their behalf.
