COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Federal regulators plan to meet with operators of a nuclear fuel plant in Columbia to discuss a problem with a filter at the plant.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesman Roger Hannah said Wednesday the conference with Westinghouse officials will be January 12 in Atlanta.

The NRC says there apparently were problems with a filter at the plant last July. The filter is supposed to make sure material in waste waters is removed before the water is discharged. Plant operators say some parts were missing, which could have allowed more material than expected to accumulate in the filter.

An NRC inspection found what appear to be six violations.

Hannah says no decision will be made at the meeting on possible enforcement actions.
