Columbia (WACH) -- Diners have a chance to enjoy many of South Carolina's restaurants at a fraction of the price.

Participating restaurants feature a special menu at a special price.

Kristian Niemi, owner of Gervais & Vine, says, "I think restaurant week is a great opportunity for a lot of independent restaurants to show all of the customers out there that they have the opportunity to dine on a budget and be able to try a lot of different things at restaurants so they can get an appetizer and entree and dessert for a much lower price."

Staff with the South Carolina Hospitality Association say Restaurant week brings a boom to local businesses.

"Last year's event for a lot of restaurants...almost all that participated...saw a good increase in sales...January is a restaurant's slowest month of the year it's also when people are looking for a reason to get out," says Tom Sponseller, President of the South Carolina Hospitality Association.

The event is held January 14-22, 2011.

Restaurants suggest making reservations because they fill up quickly.
