COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Investigators say they've found the vehicle they think was involved in a fatal Christmas Eve hit and run.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol located a black 1997 Ford Thunderbird with front end damage matching the description of the vehicle officials were searching for.

The discovery came from a tip placed through CrimeStoppers.

Authorities say the driver of the Thunderbird, who is still on the run, struck and killed 43-year-old Clifton Davis of Columbia around 10 p.m. Friday on US 321 near Crane Church Rd.

The Highway Patrol continues their investigation.

If you have any information that may help investigators, you're urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
