COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Dutch Square Mall just one of the many places on Christmas Eve where shoppers are crossing off their gift list.
"Just trying to do some last minute shopping for my husband, grandkids. I have two grandkids and I’m just trying to spoil them to death," says Gertie Irving.
Last minute deals at stores here range from twenty-five to fifty percent off. So why did some wait so long to shop?
"With today being payday and everyone is off today retail should see an increase in business," says shopper Kevin Young.
"I've heard a lot of people say they get paid today and they are waiting on the sale," says Chrystal Briggs.
Briggs is the owner of Da Bagz, it’s a mobile handbag boutique inside the mall. She says she thought it was going to be a little slow the day before Christmas but surprisingly many shoppers have brought handbags.
Handbags and clothing are not the only hot ticket items this holiday. Jewelry is getting some attention.
We stopped by Radio Shack and customers there were trying to get their hands on the best electronics this season.
"We've come out compared prices with various places that were one price at the beginning of the week and another price now. We’ve been fortunate to pick up items," says Vincent Lyde.
These shoppers say they're not procrastinators they're just being frugal looking for a deal.
