PICKENS, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say they have found two children who were part of what police say was a false kidnapping report in South Carolina.

Pickens County deputies told multiple media outlets the girls, ages, 1 and 2, were found in a parking lot in Bazetta, Ohio, on Thursday afternoon.

The girls' aunt and legal guardian reported they were kidnapped Wednesday, and a statewide alert was issued. But a few hours later, deputies say they determined the woman made the story up. She was charged with filing a false police report.

Authorities say the girls were found safe with their mother and grandmother, and no charges will be filed against them.
