COLUMBIA (WACH)-The North Main Plaza adds two new businesses to its list.
On Wednesday City of Columbia officials welcomed two new businesess to the area, First Choice Rehabilitation Center and Natural Escape Day Spa.
North Columbia is undergoing a series of revitalization projects, including the streetscaping project, celebration of Historic Elmwood, and new businesses. Several months ago officials welcomed Houston's Low Country Grill and CiCi's Pizza.
The new businesses will provide health and wellness products and services to the coummunity.
The tenants say the thriving area is not the only incentive for opening their doors.
"The rates are more competitive here, I think that was very instrumental the more space we have the more opportunities we have to do different things and i think they understood that. One of the first things they [city officials] said to us when we started was what do we need," says Chris Mims, owner of First Choice.
First Choice Rehabilitation is located in the back of the North Main Plaza on the second floor, Natural Escape Day Spa is located in the front of the plaza on the first floor.
On Wednesday an employment agency also signed a lease with the plaza and plans to begin operations in January.
