LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Tis’ the season when calendars become booked up with holiday events.

On Thursday, the Town of Lexington held its 35th annual Carolighting.

Nearly 300 people watched as Mayor Randy Halfacre lit the Christmas tree at Virgina Hylton Park.

Halfacre says the Carolighting is a great way for community members to slow down from the hustle and bustle of the season and remember what is important this time of year.

“It is a really difficult time right now for a lot of people,” adds Halfacre, “but having an event like the Carolighting peaks the spirit and it gives people if nothing else, some temporary joy.”
