LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Some Midlands students got into the holiday spirit by giving back to those less fortunate Friday.

Providence Elementary students presented Harvest Hope Food Bank with donations they collected at school

The donations will go to Harvest Hope's backpack feeding program to help feed hungry children in Lexington.

Students say it feels good to give back.

"It felt really good to help other people," says Nalin Haley.  "It's really good for them and us."

"I mostly enjoy that everyone is going to get food, that don't have food in their cabinets, so that they know they'll have a Thanksgiving dinner," adds Caleb Trawdy.

"I love to help people and I think it's a great thing that we can do this," explains Vilena Hrebar.

Students used the Carolina/Clemson football rivalry to promote their donation contest.

They challenged other students to a one-week drive in support of their favorite team.
