COLUMBIA (WACH) --  The biggest shopping day of the year is fast approaching.

Traditionally, the day after Thanksgiving or Black Friday is the time when consumers can save the most money on holiday gifts.

But according to Director Marianne Bickle of USC’s Center for Retailing, shoppers can score big throughout the month of November.

She says many retailers are extending sales to make Black Friday into Black November.

“If you check online for coupons or in your newspaper, you will be seeing promotions that say something like, ‘Black Friday sales even before Black Friday,’ and so it is a wonderful time for consumers to capture some merchandise on sale that they wouldn’t normally of gotten in the past,” Bickle says.

By extending the shopping holiday, Bickle adds that shoppers will less likely feel stressed on Black Friday since the savings will be stretched throughout the month.
