LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Firefighters responded to a house fire at 7:35 pm on Tuesday on Battery Creek Drive in the Gaston community of Lexington County.
Within minutes firefighters arrived on scene to discover the home heavily involved with fire.
It took firefighters about an hour to bring it under control.
No one was injured during the incident, but the home was a total loss.
The home's residents were in the home at the time and were alerted by a working smoke detector, enabling them to escape the home unharmed.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Lexington County Fire Service would like to remind all citizens the importance of having working smoke detectors in their homes and how they save lives.
The Lexington County Fire Service also offers smoke detectors to those less fortunate and unable to afford the purchase of a smoke detector for their home and they can be retrieved from any local Lexington County Fire Station.
