COLUMBIA (WACH) -- This time of year, the days are shorter and the temperature is most definitely colder.
To get through the freezing temps, many of us can huddle around a heater, but for the city's homeless, they have few options.
The city owned winter shelter on Columbia's Calhoun Street is offering help for the city's homeless.
The shelter opened November 1 and will remain open until March 31.
The facility can hold 200 men and 40 women and is always in need of extra supplies.
Here are some things they are looking for:
-Monetary donations
-Mattresses
-Board games
-Books
-Underwear
-Socks
-Towels
If you want to help the homeless shelter you can call 799-3853 ext. 117.
