CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Still another candidate has entered the race in South Carolina for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Jim DeMint.
Nationally known chef, author and television personality Nathalie Dupree of Charleston is running as a write-in candidate.
Dupree calls herself an independent Democrat. She says DeMint is out of touch with South Carolinians. She says she got into the race because of DeMint's opposition to a federal earmark to pay for a study of deepening Charleston Harbor.
Democratic nominee Alvin Greene, who faces an obscenity charge, and Green Party candidate Tom Clements are also running.
Dupree is the third candidate to launch a write-in campaign. Mazie Ferguson of Sumter and Greg Snoad of Mauldin also say they are running write-in campaigns.
