LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina woman has been returned from North Carolina to face charges that she killed her husband last month.

The State newspaper reported that Lexington County sheriff's deputies said 37-year-old Shellie Davis of Columbia was brought from the Mecklenburg County jail in Charlotte to Lexington.

Davis is charged with murder in the Sept. 22 shooting death of her estranged husband, 37-year-old Jermaine Davis. Sheriff James Metts says Jermaine Davis was shot in the back of the head with a pistol at his West Columbia apartment.

Deputies say Shellie Davis then drove to Charlotte, where she shot herself once in the head outside a friend's home. She recuperated in a Charlotte hospital.

It was unclear if she has an attorney.
