CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- After closing a main street through Charleston's business district to motorized vehicles last spring, the city has decided to make the closings a regular thing.

On Sunday, the city will again close King Street, allowing only pedestrians and bicycles. The effort allows shops to display their wares outside and for restaurants to serve patrons street side.

King Street through the city's shopping and antiques district was closed to motorized vehicles for the first time back in May.

The event is now being called Second Sunday on King Street and the street will be closed to vehicles the second Sunday of each month.
