Curtis Simms is being held at the Richland County Detention Center for aggravated breach of peace.
COLUMBIA (WACH, AP) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate the death of a Marion man Saturday night. The incident happened on Shop Road near Williams-Brice Stadium.
According to RCSD, deputies responded to an emergency call around 9:00 p.m. Officials said upon arrival, 20-year-old Allen Gasque was severely injured after being run over. Authorities said Gasque was taken to Palmetto Health Richland where he was pronounced dead.
Richland County sheriff's spokeswoman Monique Mack says the fight started a block from Williams-Brice Stadium as a road rage incident. Witnesses said the fight developed after a truck cut off a car trying to leave a parking lot.
Coroner Gary Watts says Gasque fell or was pushed under a passing truck and died from head injuries.
Deputies have charged a man involved in this case. Curtis Simms is in custody at the Richland County Detention Center. He has been charged with aggravated breach of peace.
It was unclear if Simms had an attorney.
