CHESNEE, S.C. (AP) -- A head-on collision in Spartanburg County has killed two Chesnee women, but a child in each car survived.

Multiple media outlets reported the wreck happened about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon on state Highway 11 about two miles west of Chesnee.

Officials say 68-year-old Connie Ruth Duckett (DUCK-it) and 70-year-old Rena Joann McDowell both died at the scene.

Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne says Duckett's car crossed the centerline and struck McDowell's car head-on.

A 7-year-old in the back seat of Duckett's car and a 6-year-old child in the back seat of McDowell's car suffered only minor injuries.

Investigators say all four people in the cars were properly restrained.
