SULLIVANS ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- Life at The Citadel during the Civil War is being discussed in a program leading up to the 150th anniversary of the war.
A lecture at Fort Moultrie on Sullivans Island on Saturday deals with the daily lives of Citadel cadets and the support they provided the Confederacy.
The lecture by Citadel history professor Kyle Sinisi is part of a series of programs dealing with the events leading to the war.
The war erupted with the bombardment of Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor in April of 1861.
Three months earlier, Citadel cadets on Morris Island fired on and turned back the supply ship Star of the West that was trying to bring aid to the federal troops holding Fort Sumter.
