COLUMBIA (WACH) -- South Carolina is mourning the loss of a state lawmaker.

Representative Bill Wylie died Saturday night.  He was 70 years old.

Wylie, a Republican from Simpsonville, suffered a massive heart attack while on vacation in Wyoming.

He's a former president of sportswear giant Umbro America.

Voters elected him into the state House in 2008.

"In just two short years, he became known as a fervent conservative watchdog.  It's a shame that our state will no longer benefit from his hard work and public service," says Karen Floyd, South Carolina GOP Chair.

Funeral arrangements for Wylie are still pending.
