LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Lexington officials unveiled one of their most recent upgrades at a local landmark.

A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the new scenic overlook at Gibson Park Tuesday.

The town met up with the Chamber of Commerce and the Sertoma Club on the more than $8,000 upgrade.

It's one of several public/private partnerships Lexington has been working on with civic groups and local businesses.

Money for the park project was raised through a Carolina-Clemson Big Thursday tailgate dinner last fall.

"I just want to commend everyone who's been involved with the Sertoma Club to the town, and the folks have put hard work into making this place," explains Glenn Martin of the Greater Lexington Chamber.  "It makes me want to go get my boat and go fishing."

Town officials say there are more improvements on the agenda for the park.  They plan to use proceeds from this fall's Carolina-Clemson fundraiser to upgrade the dam area at Gibson Pond Park.
