LANCASTER (AP) -- The father of three South Carolina high school students involved in a fight has himself been charged with assaulting an assistant principal.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported 44-year-old Rodney Thompson of Lancaster was charged after the open house at Lancaster High School.

Officials say Thompson's sons had been involved in an altercation Monday and assistant principal William Farrar broke it up.

Thompson is accused of hitting Farrar several times Monday night, knocking him down.

The newspaper says Thompson was unapologetic Wednesday, saying his sons said Farrar assaulted one of them. Thompson says he hopes Farrar will think before he touches another student.

School safety director Bryan Vaughn says both fights are on surveillance video and there is no indication Farrar assaulted the teens.
