COLUMBIA (WACH) -- They're really cookin' over at USC, but not because of the heat.
The university has a newly redesigned kitchen at the McCutchen House.
It comes equipped with state-of-the-art appliances for students training for a career in culinary arts.
School officials gave a tour of the new digs Thursday.
The improvements to the kitchen area give students in the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management hands on experience in a restaurant setting.
"The biggest thing is, it gives them a taste of what it's like in the real world in a commercial setting," explains McCutchen House Director Neal Smoak.
Students will get lots of cooking practice too. The McCutchen House hosts more than a thousand events each year.
