MYRTLE BEACH (AP) -- Police in a South Carolina county say they have made the largest seizure of heroin in the county's history.
The Horry County Police Department said Wednesday that its detectives, along with agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, capped a year-long investigation into a drug trafficking operation.
Officials say the operation was bringing large quantities of black tar heroin to the Myrtle Beach area.
On Aug. 2, police went to a Myrtle Beach home and seized the drugs. Authorities say police seized eight kilograms of black tar heroin, 1 1/2 kilograms of powder heroin and half a kilogram of cocaine. Police estimated the combined value of the drugs at more than $12 million.
No arrests were made, but police said the investigation is continuing and arrests are expected.
