COLUMBIA (WACH) -- After hours of listening to people sing their hearts out, we have crowned a new Palmetto Idol.
Hundreds crowded into the Columbia Place Mall Thursday afternoon to hear the contestants go head-to-head for a shot at a guaranteed American Idol audition.
Plenty of talent turned out, but only one could walk away with the title.
Jessie Fulwood is this year's Palmetto Idol winner. As you can imagine, she's thrilled.
"I'm trying to keep the tears in. It took so long to get here, so many competitions to get here," she says.
Jessie heads off to Austin, TX next week to audition for American Idol on August 11.
