HOPKINS (WACH) -- Communities turned out loud and proud to show criminals they won't tolerate crime in their neighborhoods.
It's all a part of National Night Out.
Hundreds of people participated in the events held at Lower Richland High School Tuesday.
All activities were designed to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention efforts through fun and games for the entire family.
This is the first year folks in Hopkins hosted National Night Out.
"We tried for the last couple years to get this to come down to Lower Richland," says Jim McCauley of the Hickory Neighborhood Association. "Everything has been going to the north east, but Sheriff Lott said 'this year I am bringing this to Lower Richland and I want to see more than three people,' and I think he is going to be satisfied with what he sees here."
Tuesday's event included entertainment, information booths and a chance to meet local law enforcement members.
