COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The Vice President of the United States, in town to honor a longtime South Carolina senator. Biden taking time out Friday morning to praise former Senator Ernest Hollings as he attended the dedication of a library at USC, named after the longtime senator.
Local and national lawmakers from Capitol Hill, in the Capital City to honor former SC Senator Ernest Hollings and the library that bears his name,
"The leadership of Fritz Hollings, he was relentless and is still relentless," said Vice President Joe Biden.
That relentless and unwavering spirit, is responsible for the "Rare Books and Special Collections" Library. Biden recognizing the facilities many valuable treasures. The Vice President also says Hollings' selfless sacrifices, turned his vision into reality.
"Nothing, nothing, nothing ever slows him down," said Biden.
Ernest Hollings says there was one driving force, helping him complete this chapter in his life.
"Educate, educate," said Hollings. "As a state, we need way more education."
"He keeps challenging the conventional wisdom, pushing us to think harder about government and what it can deliver and how we can deliver it better," said Biden.
