(AP) -- NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.  A second South Carolina city appears ready to bring a casino boat to its docks.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Sunday that North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey appears to have the votes needed to remove a city law banning the boats.

Summey wants to bring boats that would sail out into international waters, where state laws prohibiting gambling on cards, dice and other games don't apply.

A casino boat currently sails from Little River north of Myrtle Beach.

Preliminary estimates from North Charleston say the boat could bring the city $500,000 to $1.5 million a year.

But gambling experts warn an explosion of betting options mean casinos aren't the cash cows they once were.
