LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Our hot and sweltering temperatures can be a cause for concern for folks living without fans or air conditioning.

But the Lexington Police Department is lending a helping hand.

The department is collecting fans and AC units to assist residents in staying cool.

Organizers say it's a community wide effort to help those in need stay safe and cool.

Fans are available at the Lexington Police Department for those interested.
