COLUMBIA -- We've had a break from the heat the past few days, but Mother Nature will soon crank up again.

Another heat wave is expected to hit the Midlands and with that, folks will be turning up the AC.

With air conditioners working overtime in the scorching heat, energy usage goes up.

And SCE&G officials say they're ready for the surge.

"The demand will go up as we get closer to those 100 degree temperatures, but we haven't seen a record peak setting demand at this point," says Roxanne Argo of SCE&G.

The high heat is expected to arrive Wednesday.  Check out our Weather Page to see how high the temperature is expected to rise and when it will come back down.
