CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- While most Americans are celebrating America's independence this weekend, one South Carolina plantation is using the day to tell its story.
On Sunday, 10 storytellers will be scattered around Charleston to tell the story of United States as seen through the plantation.
They're sharing stories of the Revolutionary War, the rice culture of the South Carolina coast and the Civil War era. There are also discussions of one of the garden's most popular attractions, its extensive camellia collection.
Magnolia was founded by the Drayton family on the Ashley River in 1676 -- only six years after the Carolina colony was founded. It's among the oldest public gardens in the nation and has hosted visitors since 1870.
