Miss Pendleton crowned Miss South Carolina

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Desiree Puglia of Simpsonville has been crowned Miss South Carolina 2010.

Puglia, the reigning Miss Pendleton was named Saturday night in a ceremony Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.

The 22-year-old wins a $15,000 scholarship, and will go on to compete for the title of Miss America in Las Vegas in January. Puglia won both the preliminary events in Evening Gown and Talent, performing an a capella tap dance routine.

The first runner-up is Miss Laurens County Deja Frederick. The 20-year-old from Lexington sang At Last in the talent competition.
