RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) -- A Richland County correctional officer has been arrested for planning to deal drugs to inmates.

Officials say they received a tip that 24-year-old Gerard Vincent Brower was transporting and distributing narcotics to inmates at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Richland County narcotics agents arrested Brower in the parking lot of the detention center with marijuana on Sunday, June 27 before he was able to enter the facility.

He's been charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
