COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A Richland County sheriff's deputy has been suspended after he was arrested for driving under the influence.

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol pulled over Deputy Franklin Ham early Thursday morning and transported him to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Ham was off duty at the time.

Sheriff Leon Lott says that Ham, who is assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division, has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
