COLUMBIA (AP) -- With their primary races and runoffs decided, Republicans are turning to a general election contest and picking a couple of themes.
State GOP Chairman Karen Floyd told a unity rally crowd of candidates and supporters that they'll be competing against the Greene-Sheheen Democrat machine. That's a reference to military vet Alvin Greene who won the Democratic Party's nomination for U.S. Senate and state Sen. Vincent Sheheen who won the gubernatorial nomination.
Democrats tried to dump Greene from the ticket after The Associated Press discovered he had a pending felony charge.
Floyd also rolled out what she called a spendometer. The machine's flashing displayed what was described as Democratic-backed spending.
