CHARLESTON (AP) -- Candidates are picking up more endorsements in the Republican runoff in South Carolina's coastal 1st Congressional District.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee announced Thursday that he's endorsing state Rep. Tim Scott.

Scott's opponent, Paul Thurmond, has picked up the endorsement of Larry Kobrovsky -- one of the nine candidates who ran for the GOP nomination in the primary earlier this month.

The race between Scott, a black Republican, and Thurmond, son of the famous South Carolina U.S. senator, has drawn national attention.

The seat is now held by Republican Henry Brown who is retiring. The GOP runoff winner faces Democrat Ben Frasier in November.
